Have you ever wondered how chocolate is made?
On a recent trip to Bali, I was lucky enough to visit a cacao plantation and factory and learn firsthand for myself. Housed in the largest bamboo structure in the world, Big Tree Farms Cacao Tour explains in detail the process of the Cacao journey from bean to bar. Showing the process from whole Cacao bean fresh from the tree, to grinding the nibs to create cacao paste, removal of the cacao butter, and leaving the remainder of the cacao powder as the end product. In the heart of the factory we were shown how the cacao liquor paste is then ground together with coconut sugar and some more cacao butter to form raw chocolate, where it is then flavoured with sea salt, cacao nibs or orange before being set into bars.Related Articles
