Christina is a qualified Nutritionist who has worked in the Mr Vitamins family for 5 years. She shares her top tips for staying healthy during the colder months, from warming Shroom Brew Lattes to essential immune-boosting supplements. Learn how to incorporate movement, hydration, and relaxation into your routine to enhance your well-being all winter long.

Here are some personal insights into my approach to looking after your health during the winter months.

Supplements:

Knowrish Well Shroom Brew Latte: If you are looking for something to warm your soul and belly, try it right now! This hug in a mug gives me such an energy boost with the Lions Mane, Chaga and Ginseng it contains, yet it provides a sustained calmness the moment it hits your lips because of the Ashwagandha, Dandelion root and Reishi. I can’t forget to mention it also contains Astragalus which helps support immunity by activating T cells and natural killer cells.
Want to experience this healthy indulgence? Mix 1tsp of the latte mix in 50ml of boiling water. Then add 130-150ml of almond milk, 1 tsp of coconut milk powder and one scoop of whole body collagen.
The whole range is beautiful, and if you aren’t a fan of mushrooms, try the Golden State Latte – it tastes like pumpkin pie!

Designs For Health NAC Powder: This is my family’s go to supplement if we are sick, and especially if we are experiencing any upper respiratory tract infections. It’s unflavoured, palatable and easy to consume in juice or water. I find I recover from a cold or flu much quicker if I consume this. N- Acetyl Cystine functions as a precursor to glutathione, a vital antioxidant in the body. By elevating glutathione levels, NAC aids in the detoxification processes and boosts the body’s ability to combat toxins.

Designs For Health Liposomal C: A reliable source of Vitamin C, I'll make sure to have this product by my side at all times. I know there are several brands of liposomal C on the market that are effective, but from personal experience, I felt a boost almost instantly, especially when feeling run down! The Liposomal technology provides superior absorption, enabling effective high level dosing and can significantly improve the bioavailability of Vitamin C.  It tastes like you are eating an orange, only in liposomal form.

Lifestyle:

Move your body: It’s important to get the blood flowing to warm you up and a great way to boost endorphins, providing benefits for physical and mental health! My day always starts off better as I'm in a happier, clearer and more productive state of mind from exercising. Everyone will have their favourite physical activity they prefer doing, but I love my morning walk. I am surrounded by some beautiful parks, so going for walks outside with the dog and grabbing a coffee on the way, it's a great routine and gets me motivated, especially on the days where getting out bed is pretty tough.

Stay hydrated: I’ll keep a water bottle by my side filled with 2L of filtered water as a reminder to always drink enough water. Staying hydrated is important for several reasons. Water will help replenish lost fluids and despite colder temperatures, our bodies still lose water through breathing, sweating and physical activity. We tend to use heating systems during colder months, and these systems can dry out the air and deplete our fluid levels in the body. By staying hydrated, it also helps flush out any toxins, supports immune function, helps to regulate our body temperature and improve overall energy levels throughout the day.

Have a bath with essential oils: Nothing relaxes me more than a warm bath after a busy day at work. I’ve been loving the combination of Epsom salts and Absolute Essential Immune Care essential oil. You only need to add 3-5 drops of this oil into the bath with 1-2 cups of Epsom salts and then all that’s required from you is to sit back and relax. I've discovered I’ll always sleep better after this bath, and I know that quality rest is essential for a healthy immune system. Never doubt that a good night’s rest will improve your body’s ability to fight infection.
