Your Skin is a Breathing Living Organ – Treat it naturally

Skincare nature's wayWhy Natural Is Better For Your Skin

You are a living breathing being. And so is your skin. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, living and breathing. It takes around 28-35 days for the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin cells) to regenerate. Feeding your skin well, from the inside and outside, keeps it youthful, radiant and clear. Natural skincare is important to nourish and nurture your skin. Natural ingredients work with your body’s own natural healing processes to help skin cells regenerate and renew. There are numerous benefits connected with using natural skincare products on your skin, for yourself and the environment.

Let’s consider these

  1. Natural skincare includes natural ingredients from plants and the earth. These are rich in nutrients, helping to nourish and nurture the skin, thereby improving the health of your skin. Always look for skincare that is 100% natural, and has met stringent standards through international certifications.
  1. Commercial brand skincare can include harmful ingredients, chemicals and toxins. For example, many well-known skincare brands continue to include harmful ingredients such as parabens, sodium laureth sulfate (sls), phthalates, mineral oils, artificial fragrances and petroleum based ingredients. These ingredients are used to extend the life of the products, to enhance oil stripping properties and to add colour and fragrance. However, research shows that these ingredients can lead to serious health concerns such as changes in skin and eye irritations, hormonal disruptions, toxicity of the liver and even cancer.
  1. Anything you put on your skin can be absorbed into your skin. According to key research available today, if you use conventional make-up and skincare on a daily basis, you can absorb over 2 kilograms (5 pounds) of chemicals into your body each year, and that does not take into account other personal care products such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo & conditioner, or body lotion.   It doesn’t take a genius to work out how many chemicals an average 35 year old woman has been exposed to in her adult life!
  1. Natural skincare products, with natural ingredients, have few side effects and symptoms than conventional skincare products.
  1. Extended use of these products over long periods of time mean that your body can experience toxic overload. This impacts on those organs involved in elimination such as the liver and kidneys. Over time, these chemicals can accumulate in your body, as it struggles to metabolise and eliminate these toxins. Some chemicals in skincare are known to disrupt the endocrine system (our hormones). Natural skincare does not interfere with this natural elimination process.
  1. When your skincare is washed off, it ends up down the drain and into our waterways and soils. The few toxic ingredients in our skincare, then the few toxins end up in our environment.
