Description
Cypress essential oil has a woody aroma. Cypress is clearing and cleansing on both the mind and body. Used in massage it has a tonic effect on the body, stimulating circulation.
woody, warm, slightly spicy, sweet. A middle to base note.
Benefits
Cypress is a comforting, strengthening oil that encourages a sense of inner peace and stability. It is a drying, astringent, deodorising oil that makes it useful in footbaths for infections and foot odour. The refreshing woody scent has seen it traditionally used in aftershave blends, facial oils and facial steams for oily skin conditions, devitalised skin and enlarged pores. Cypress is also beneficial for circulatory problems having a special affinity to those related to the legs. It is a wonderful addition to massage blends and therapeutic baths for the treatment of sore, tired legs, swollen ankles, varicose veins, arthritic complaints and haemorrhoids. It will also alleviate fluid retention.
ingredients
steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of Cupressus sempervirens
suggested dose
Blends well with: bergamot, clary sage, lemon, lavender, orange, lime, juniper, marjoram, chamomile, mandarin, sandalwood, rosemary, geranium, eucalyptus, frankincense.
Precautions
Do not take internally. Essential oils should always be blended with a base oil (such as sweet almond oil) before being applied to the body.
