Almond Milk Recipe

Almond Milk Recipe
  • Health advice
  • May 14, 2012
With so many more people allergic to dairy products, it’s nice to find a healthy alternative. Many milk substitutes are high in sugar and spike your blood sugar levels dramatically. This recipe is made from almonds, which are packed full of natural plant chemicals. These have beneficial anti-inflammatory effects in your body. Almonds are extremely high in calcium, magnesium and trace minerals such as manganese. This delicious healthy treat can be added to smoothies, used in cooking or drunk on its own!

Almond Milk Recipe

  • 1 cup Almonds soaked overnight
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon
  • Drizzle of agave nectar
  • Cheese cloth/Muslin cloth
  1. Soak almonds in water overnight
  2. The almonds should have soaked up most of the water by the morning
  3. Blend almonds, water, cinnamon and vanilla until puréed
  4. Now taste to see if you like the flavour, add agave nectar if you want more sweetness
  5. Spread out the cheesecloth over a bowl and slowly pour the mixture through the cloth
  6. Drain out remaining liquid by squeezing the muslin cloth till there is nothing left
