Functional Testing

Functional Testing
  • Health advice
  • Jul 11, 2019
Functional pathology tests investigate different aspects of our physiology including:
  • Nutritional status
  • Biochemical pathway activity
  • Metabolic efficiency
  • Hormonal balance
  • Different aspects of gut health
  • Genetics
How does functional pathology testing differ from general pathology testing? Functional pathology testing is designed to assess the efficiency of normal physiological function as well as nutritional status and genetics. This differs from“General” pathology testing (such as blood tests), scans and other investigative procedures (such as colonoscopies) which are designed to screen for disease states.  For example: A colonoscopy can detect intestinal diseases but gives no info about a person’s absorption efficiency. An Intestinal permeability test gives specific information on how well a person is absorbing their nutrients.  Another example: A blood test for oestrogen levels gives no info about oestrogen metabolism. An oestrogen metabolite test gives info about how efficiently the body is processing oestrogen and clearing it from the body. BOOK NOW
