No Ordinary Chocolate Mousse

No Ordinary Chocolate Mousse
  • Health advice
  • Nov 05, 2015
A mousse? Yep, that’s right, a mousse. But this is no ordinary chocolate mousse, it’s super healthy and jammed packed full of antioxidants, fibre, protein and good fats. This simple recipe features avocado, bananas, chia seeds, cacao and berries – together making a mousse:
  • exceptionally high in good fats essential for brain function
  • reducing the risk of heart disease and
  • for glowing hair, skin and nails
  • fibre to aid digestion and keep you feeling satisfied for longer
  • antioxidants to fight free radicals, preventing cancer and heart disease and improving eye-site and skin tone and
  • protein for tissue repair, muscle recovery and healthy metabolism

Chocolate Mousse

  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 2 large ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds soaked in water for 10-20 minutes
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch stevia - or you can use a tablespoon honey (maple syrup or rice malt syrup. (Sweetener is optional as the bananas offer a great level of sweetness))
  • Mixed berries to serve
  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until fluffy and smooth.
  2. Serve into small desert bowels or glasses, top with berries, and there you have it – a yummy and healthy indulgent treat.
This recipe is quick and easy to whip up and can be enjoyed for dessert, a snack, or even breakfast! By Tiaan Bennett, Naturopath.
