Granola is a very popular and delicious breakfast, however it is often high in sugar and bad fats.
Here we have a granola that’s very low in sugar and comes with a myriad of wonderful health benefits.
The main ingredient featured in granola are good old fashioned Oats. A grain that has been shown to have profound health promoting effects due to its distinct type of fibre, known as beta-glucans. These beta-glucans do a fantastic job at reducing cholesterol levels, preventing the onset of atherosclerosis and maintaining a healthy digestive system. Moreover, oats are known to stabilise blood sugar levels and reduce sugar cravings.
In addition, this granola contains nuts and seeds, which are rich in great health promoting fats, preventing cardiovascular conditions, improving memory and making your hair, skin and nails beautiful and shiny.
Not forgetting Cinnamon which is also excellent in heping to stabilise blood sugar and combat insulin resistance.
Whether you like your granola sprinkled on top of your favourite yogurt, or in a bowl with good quality milk, you’re doing yourself a favour by including this delicious and nourishing breakfast into your diet.
This granola is absolutely divine with natural yoghurt and berries. It´s also delicious with nut milk or coconut milk.
You may even like to add coconut chips or dried fruit to the granola. Have fun with this delicious récipe and enjoy!

Simple Cinnamon Granola
- 2.5 cups rolled oats
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup raw nuts (roughly chopped)
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds
- 1 heaped tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp rice malt syrup (honey or agave (or a small sprinkle of stevia))
- Heat coconut oil in a pan over low heat.
- When melted, add the oats and cook for 2 minutes, continually stirring.
- Add the nuts, seeds, cinnamon and your choice of sweetener and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
- Once the granola starts to become golden brown and crunchy, turn off the heat and let cool (or eat straight away when it’s yummy and warm). Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
