What you can do to stick with it – and achieve your goals...
You enjoyed New Years Eve and then wrote your New Year’s Resolutions… get fit, lose weight, stop yelling at the kids, change jobs, improve your relationship. And then you remembered last year… You wrote resolutions and they didn’t happen; and when you thought about it you realised that this had happened for the previous year too. The next thought was “I might as well give them up now before I put myself through all this stress.”STOP! You don’t have to give up your resolutions and goals.
There is a reason why you haven’t been realising them. So what’s the reason? Your subconscious mind. Let’s explain …Use the power of your subconscious mind
Your conscious mind (the one that writes the resolutions) is only 2-10% of your mind. Your subconscious mind (or unconscious mind as others call it) is the other 90-98% of your mind. It is the one that supports the digestion of food; keeps your heart beating; drives the car when you are thinking of something else (have you ever found yourself arriving at your destination and wondering who was driving the car while you were thinking?). How does the subconscious mind work? It is programmed from a previous experience. Think of it like a computer. When you buy a new computer it is blank, with no programs, then you load up the programs you want. This is exactly what happens with your subconscious mind. From the moment you are conceived it is being programmed, through all of your senses, with the primary goal of keeping you safe and ensuring that you can surviveIs your programming positive?
Most of the time this programming of your mind is positive, and supports you as an adult; however, when you have experienced something that is new, challenging or scary, as a child, then the programming may no longer help you as an adult. For example you have consciously set a resolution for this year to lose weight. But you start eating all the foods you decided not to eat. What is happening here is that your subconscious mind says “This is not safe” so it ensures that you eat the foods to keep you safe. You then feel helpless and don’t know how to stop it. This is what is happening to your resolutions and goals – you are not realising them because your subconscious mind has been programmed to say “These actions are not safe so I will ensure that they don’t happen”.Reprogram your subconscious mind
The great news is that you can reprogram your subconscious mind. And when you do your life starts to change - your relationships start to improve, you reach your weight goals, you find your passion and you realise your New Year’s Resolutions. . .Related Articles
