It is important to educate yourself even before your baby is born, on how to prepare yourself for those first few weeks after birth to support your health and baby's health. Good nutrition can make a difference to breastfeeding, in the quality of breast milk, and can help mothers recover from a childbirth. This recipe from BioConcepts Pure Natal range of supplements.

Breastfeeding Friendly Cookies

  • 2 1/2 cups of steel cut oats/rolled oats/gluten free oats
  • 4 tablespoons ground flax seeds
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 6 tablespoons extra-virgin coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup coconut sugar (or an alternative)
  • 1/4 cup brewer's yeast
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon himalayan salt/sea salt
  • 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)
  1. preheat oven to 180C
  2. combine flaxseed and water well
  3. add in coconut oil, coconut sugar, brewers yeast, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt
  4. combine well
  5. stir in 1/2 cup oats
  6. mill the remaining oats into flour and add
  7. finally stir in chocolate chips
  8. form into balls on lined baking tray, and use fork to press into cookie shape
  9. bake for 10-12 minutes
  10. allow to cool and enjoy!
